In a dramatic five-set comeback, the LA Pierce College women's volleyball team captured its first Western State Conference win since 2021, defeating Allan Hancock College in a rollercoaster match: 25-18, 22-25, 20-25, 25-21, 15-11.
The Brahmas came out strong, taking the first set, but Allan Hancock responded with back-to-back wins to go up 2-1. Refusing to back down, Pierce stormed back to win the fourth and decisive fifth sets, showing resilience and poise under pressure.
Freshman Caylin Norwood led the charge with 13 kills and a standout 24 digs, while fellow freshman Valerie Lopez added 12 kills to fuel the offense. Setter Zhara Numa ran the attack efficiently, dishing out 39 assists on the night. Libero Gisella Loza anchored the defense with 21 digs, helping the Brahmas hold off a persistent Allan Hancock squad.
With the win, the Brahmas improve to 4-3 overall, matching their win total from 2022. After several rebuilding years, Pierce is showing real momentum and promise with a young, talented roster.
