Brahmas Extend Win Streak to 13 with 12-0 Shutout of Oxnard
LA Pierce kept rolling Saturday afternoon at Joe Kelly Field, shutting out Oxnard 12-0 for its 13th straight victory.
The Brahmas allowed just one hit all game and broke things open with four-run innings in both the fifth and sixth before adding three more in the eighth. Pierce finished with 19 hits and 11 RBIs in the win.
Pierce got on the board in the first inning when Ethan Granillo drove in Jeremy Jones with an RBI single. The Brahmas then took control in the fifth. Braden Sellz delivered a two-run single before Juan Tirado followed with a two-run single of his own to make it 5-0.
The offense stayed hot in the sixth. Sellz added another RBI single, Isaiah Chaves brought home a run with a single, and Tirado doubled in two more to stretch the lead to 9-0.
Tirado finished with four RBIs, while Sellz drove in three. Jeremy Jones led the way at the top of the lineup with four hits and two runs scored. Granillo and Chaves each had two hits and two runs, while Anthony Castro scored twice.
On the mound, Brayden Briscoe was dominant. The right-hander tossed seven shutout innings, allowing just one hit while striking out eight to improve to 7-1 on the season. Jose Avellaneda Jr., Connor Warfield, and Andres Fernandez combined to finish off the shutout as Oxnard was held to just one hit and struck out 11 times.
The Brahmas will look to keep the streak going in their next highly anticipated conference matchup against Santa Barbara City College.
