Brahmas Battle Back for Five Set Road Win Over El Camino
The LA Pierce College men's volleyball team rallied after dropping the first two sets to defeat El Camino College in a dramatic five set match Friday night at the ECC Gym Complex. The Brahmas earned the comeback victory 21-25, 21-25, 26-24, 25-17, 15-10 to improve to 5-7 overall.
Pierce showed resilience throughout the night, recovering from an early deficit after El Camino claimed the first two sets. The Brahmas responded in the third set, battling point-for-point before closing it out 26-24 to keep the match alive.
Momentum shifted fully in the fourth set as Pierce controlled the tempo and limited El Camino's offense, cruising to a 25-17 win to force a decisive fifth set. In the final set, Pierce jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, sealing the match with a 15-10 victory to complete the reverse sweep.
Ryder Tafoya led the Brahmas offensively with 19 kills and 13 digs, while Dev Vunnam added 10 kills and two blocks. Ryan Tse contributed six kills and five block assists, helping anchor the defensive effort at the net. Setter Armando Gamez orchestrated the offense with 25 assists, while Kenned Vea anchored the back row with 17 digs as Pierce totaled 59 digs and 52 kills as a team. With the win, Pierce continues conference play, looking to build momentum after the thrilling road victory.
