Swim Competes In First Conference Meet

The Pierce College men's and women's swim teams competed in our first official swim meet of the season last Friday at Valley College. Our own Jhan Lonina won high point placing 1st in the 200 breaststroke in a 2:17.16, 1st in the 200 IM in a 2:04.03, and 1st in the 1650 freestyle in a 17:26.16. Freshman Matteo Podesta pulled off an amazing 2nd place finish in the 200 free in a 1:59.84 and took 3rd in the 1650 free. Sophomore Martin Jimenez took 5th in the 200 breaststroke and 7th in the 1650 freestyle. Freshman Christian Santiago Ferrer was 7th in the 200 breaststroke and freshman Ryan Lozano qualified 8th in the 100 butterfly. The men beat both Santa Monica and Citrus College.
The Pierce College women qualified freshman Baran Ebrahini 3rd in the 100 free and 200 breaststroke and 5th in the 100 breaststroke. Captain Melina Farabolini placed 4th in the 200 backstroke, 5th in the 100 backstroke, and 6th in the 100 fly. Freshman Natalie Reyes took 5th in the 200 backstroke and 6th in the 100 backstroke. Finally, freshman Sabrena Navarro in her first swim meet placed 7th in the 200 freestyle and freshman Jimena Recinos was 7th in the 200 breaststroke. Congratulations on a job well done.
