The Pierce College Men's soccer team showed grit and determination on Friday night, clawing back from a two-goal deficit to earn a 2-2 draw against East Los Angeles College in front of a lively crowd at Shepard Stadium.
East LA struck early in the second half, converting a penalty kick to take a 1-0 lead. Moments later, they doubled their advantage with a powerful strike from outside the box, putting the Brahmas on the back foot.
But the response from Pierce was swift and composed. Freshman forward Alan Gonzalez halved the deficit after a series of deflections in the box. Their persistence paid off. Off a corner kick, freshman defender Trevor Grant rose high for a header that forced a difficult save from the East LA goalkeeper. The rebound fell to fellow freshman Ousseynou Diop, who pounced and slotted home the equalizer to make it 2-2.
Both teams pressed for a winner in the final minutes, but the defenses held firm. With the draw, the Brahmas continue to build momentum as conference play approaches
