Brahmas Clinch Playoff Spot with 7–5 Win Over Cuesta
LA Pierce baseball punched its ticket to the postseason on Tuesday afternoon, defeating Cuesta 7–5 at Joe Kelly Field to clinch a playoff berth in the final week of the regular season.
The Brahmas used a balanced offensive effort and a complete game on the mound to secure the win, finishing with 14 hits while holding off a late push from Cuesta.
Pierce struck first in the second inning, with Juan Tirado driving in a run on a triple before Matteo Rodriguez followed with an RBI groundout to make it 2–0. After Cuesta answered with three runs in the third, the Brahmas responded immediately, regaining the lead in the fourth behind Rodriguez and Christian Santiago.
From there, Pierce continued to add on. Jeremy Jones drove in a run in the fifth, and Braden Sellz delivered key extra-base hits, finishing with three hits and two RBIs to help extend the lead.
On the mound, Brayden Briscoe went the distance, allowing five runs (four earned) while striking out nine to earn the win and move to 9–3 on the season.
Cuesta threatened late, scoring in the ninth, but Pierce closed it out to secure the two-run victory and officially clinch a postseason spot.
With the regular season winding down, the Brahmas now turn their attention to the final stretch. Pierce is set to host Oxnard on Thursday before closing out the regular season against Santa Barbara City College.
