Loninia Sets New Program Record as Pierce Men Finish Fifth at Pasadena Invitational
The LA Pierce swim teams turned in another strong performance over the weekend at the 2026 Pasadena Invitational, with the Brahma men finishing fifth overall and the women placing seventh.
Leading the way once again was Jhan Loninia, who continued his standout season with a new program record in the 100-yard individual medley. Loninia posted a time of 56.18 to break the previous school mark and add another record-setting swim to his season.
Loninia also delivered several of the top performances of the meet for Pierce. He earned first place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:51.51 and followed that with another first-place finish in the 400-yard individual medley at 4:27.66. He also added a second-place finish in the 1,650-yard freestyle and a third-place finish in the 100-yard individual medley.
According to SwimCloud, Loninia finished the meet with 519.9 points, the highest total among all Pierce swimmers. Other top point scorers for Pierce included Nicholas Bush, Matteo Podesta, Andre Khachatryan and Ryan Lozano, who each contributed key points throughout the meet.
Behind those performances, the men's team secured a fifth-place finish in a competitive field, while the women's squad placed seventh overall.
LA Pierce now turns its attention to conference competition, with the Brahmas set to compete next at LA Valley.
